CHEESE BLINTZES WITH CHERRY SAUCE

🥞🥞Pancake day is soon upon us and I felt duty-bound to include a pancake recipe on the blog. Blintzes are basically Jewish  crepes  filled with cheese and served dusted with icing sugar (although fillings may vary from sweet to savoury). They are delicious and quite filling – a great brunch or dessert option. Note that you only cook them on one side and you fill them cooked side  in. pancakes comes from pretty everywhere  The Blintz in particular is thought to have originated in Central Europe, around Poland, Hungary and Slovakia. Anchovies /Natholi/Nethili battered Grill and shallow fry

Anchovy is also called Nethili or Chooda or Podimeen in different parts of India. A tasty appetizer. It is very tasty and is an excellent side dish for Rice. Even it can be as a starter.

For making this recipe, the effort is very less. It is little spicy but amazingly tasty. You can use this recipe to fry and grill any fish. 



Anchovies are a Family (Engraulidae) of small, common salt-water forage fish. There are 144 species in 17 genera, found in the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans. Anchovies are usually classified as an oily fish.They are small, green fish with blue reflections due to a silver longitudinal stripe that runs from the base of the caudal fin.

They range from 2 centimeters (0.79 in) to 40 centimeters (16 in) in adult length, and the body shape is variable with more slender fish in northern populations.


as all my cooking recipes here are using less oil to being healthy and to have a healthier life as always.. if you like oven cooking, its a good choice. 

Health and beauty benefits : 

Anchovy is highly  packed with vitamins, minerals, proteins etc. It is good for skin. eyes, bones, teeth and controls heart diseases. so add very less oil to get all the vitamins and minerals..

Ingredients :

🦈Anchovies (Kozhuva/Netholi) – 1/4 lb

🦈Lemon Juice – 1 tbspn.

🦈Oil for frying..


For Marinade :

🍤Red Chilly Powder – 1 to 2 tsp (alter according to your spice level).
🍤Pepper Powder – 1/4 tsp.

🍤Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tspn.

🍤Lemon Juice – 1 tbsp.

🍤Red food colour - a pinch.

🍤Salt – to taste.

Note : if you are using Kashmiri chilli powder then ignore red food colour.


 Method : 

🦈 Clean the anchovies and soak it in water along with 1 tbsp lemon juice for around 5 minutes.This really helps to get rid of the fishy smell. Rinse well and keep aside. 

🦈 Wash and drain the anchovies. 


🦈 Prepare a marinade using the above ingredients and apply it on the anchovies.


🦈 Refrigerate it for half an hour.

🦈 preheat the oven for 120 degree Fahrenheit .. it depends on your oven type.

🦈 Place the anchovies in the tray and grill both sides for 20 mints on medium heat till it turns brown.

🦈 Serve the grilled anchovies with your favorite bread.

For oil frying  :

🦈 Heat oil in a non stick pan for shallow frying.

🦈 Place the anchovies in the pan and fry both sides  on medium heat till it gets crispy.

🦈 Serve the grilled anchovies with rice.
